Superbook’s current slogan is “The Lean, Mean Betting Machine” but if they wanted to pull a Dudley Moore in Crazy People (Netflix this classic if you haven’t seen it) and try out an honest ad campaign, it would probably read “We’re Not Perfect, but We Don’t Ask Questions.” Simply enter your credit card number, lay your money and cash out. No faxing over copies of your c/c and driver’s license. Some might see this as a lack of security. I see it as great customer service. Otherwise, nothing on Superbook stands out as terribly bad or especially good. Basically, Superbook is the place to go if you can’t access your go-to site for whatever reason and are in a rush to get in a bet before game time. And features such as Live Chat, cross-sport parlays, reduced juice days/promotions and decent reload bonuses allow you to keep your money there for at least a few more wagers instead of having to cash out immediately. Superbook also gets bonus points for featuring the slogan “Because You Can” during the US gambling crackdown in 2006/2007.

If you look up Superbook.com, or any of its sister sites, all owned by parent company Jazette Enterprises Limited, on rating/review outlets such as SportsBookRevew.com you’ll notice they’re usually hovering around the D to C- grade range. The low scores seem due to notoriously slow/flawed payment processing. Now, if you’ve got thousands of dollars in winnings tied up in an offshore book operating out of a tiny Caribbean island, this is not a good sign. Obviously, I’d much rather a book receive an F for site layout and an A+ for payment processing than the other way around. Having said that, I’ve used this site for several years now and I can say from firsthand experience that they are improving. Superbook (or more likely, Jazette) brought on a few additional third-party payment processors, and since then checks seem to be arriving in a much more bearable 1-2 week range. And receiving a check via DHL within 1-3 days, while not the norm, isn’t unheard of.

It looks as though Superbook spent their entire marketing budget on creating those clever slogans, because the website is as bare bones as you can get. Two shades of blue set against a white background with a small logo up in the left corner. But it works, and that’s all that really matters. Personally, I like a sites that load as quickly as possible so I can sneak in a bet at the last second. Nothing is worse than sitting there waiting for half-page sized images of bikini-clad models to load on a congested server. Not that I have anything against half-nude, half-plastic women, but there’s a time and place. And the time is not when I have a gut feeling on a second-half wager on a game that’s seconds away from resuming play. Placing bets on superbook is pretty straightforward. The home page defaults to the most popular sport, while links to other betting options run across the top of the page. The site recently added links to game research such as stats, team reports, standings, etc. These pages are a bit clunky, but they do open in a new window, which is nice.

Superbook offers a toll-free customer service number and live chat. Live chat is best for checking on the status of a withdrawal, but if you have any other question be prepared to receive a copy-and-pasted response that you could find yourself after about 30 seconds of searching around the help page on the website. The agents who’ll greet you if you feel up to picking up a phone and dialing a series of numbers (I’m already exhausted) are friendly, if not all that helpful. English skills seem to be at a premium over there, as is accountability. So if you happen to run into a problem or want to engage in a dispute, be ready to enter your zen state or else it’s gonna be a long, long night. Superbook does deserve praise for never soliciting you over the phone or through the mail. I’m a moderate gambler, and my mailbox is full every day with huge envelopes filled with phony betting guides, promotional flyers and other useless advertorial materials (the swimsuit calendar and making-of DVD were ok though, so keep those coming BetUS.com) from a site I haven’t used in more than five years. My friends and loved ones know I place a few bets here and there, but when you’re getting calls at home and stacks of mail from Antigua on a daily basis, things can get a bit awkward.
